The TEDxMacquarieUniversity Team
TEDxMacquarieUniversity is being organised by a team of dedicated student interns from Macquarie University and professional mentors with industry experience. The TEDxMacquarieUniversity 2012 Team is comprised of the following people:

Liam Darmody
Licensee & Co-Curator
Liam is a partner at Cinnovate and is currently studying a Bachelor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at The University of Adelaide. He began his studies at Macquarie University and completed 6 months study at Copenhagen Business School while on exchange where he sought out an opportunity to establish a Sponsorship Program for Podio, a Danish web startup. Previous work has seen Liam in the Risk and Controls Solutions team at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was exposed to a range of areas including IT security, corporate governance and auditing of business processes, IT controls and compliance plans. His passion lies in the innovation space, collaboration technologies and education.

Jarryd Daymond
Director & Co-Curator
Jarryd is a partner at Cinnovate and also project manages the reviews of degrees in the Faculty of Economics at Macquarie University. In 2009 he completed his degrees in Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Commerce-Marketing (Hons), before spending 8 months travelling, studying and volunteering. Jarryd has worked in and taught marketing at Macquarie University. He has a passion for education and helped to establish the Macquarie University Student Representative Association.

Lucas Bérullier
Event Manager
Currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in marketing and international business at Macquarie University, Lucas – of French and Italian descent – is a pioneering marketeer. Since 2012, he has taken a role in a premier events and marketing business Eventing Edge, working with prestigious brands such as Tiffany & Co., David Jones, Nespresso and Topshop. Bringing a youthful spirit into the traditional marketing environment, Lucas is already establishing himself as a force within the industry. He combines all his talent and knowledge into project managing TEDxMacquarieUniversity 2012.

Maria Makedonas
Marketing Coordinator
Maria is a third year student at Macquarie University, currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in marketing. In her spare time, she volunteers for the Salvation Army and spends time with her family and friends. She is hoping to gain more experience in the marketing field and likes to meet new people. She is interested in social marketing and the not-for-profit sector and hopes to work in that area in the future. She is honoured to be working for TEDxMacquarieUniversity and is eager to participate in a great project.

John Kwan
Business Development Manager
John is a second year student at Macquarie University reading Commerce, majoring in International Business and Marketing. He has previously worked with large corporations in Malaysia in the events and business field. He is also an avid musician, a freelance photographer and has a penchant for sports and shopping. John believes that one should not confine his/her talent as learning and expansion knows no limits in order to help others in the community.

Alexander Taylor-Pitcher
Social Media Coordinator
Alex is a second year student at Macquarie University, studying a Bachelor of Science majoring in psychology. He is particularly interested in consumer marketing, and the relationship between society and behaviour. Alex is passionate about spreading ideas, and supporting the thirst for knowledge, and is excited to be involved with TEDxMacquarieUniversity.

Chloé Braithwaite
Communications Coordinator
Chloé is a second year science student at Macquarie University majoring in psychology. When not being asked to predict peoples’ thoughts, she can often be found in the presence of food, friends and dangerous amounts of shoes. Coming from a large, very multicultural family, she is well aware of the importance of education and communication, which is what initially drew her to TEDxMacquarieUniversity. She is a member of Macquarie University Skeptics’ Society, Macquarie University Psychology Society and is participating in the Global Leadership Program. Upon completion of her degree, she hopes to pursue postgraduate study in either forensic psychology or evolutionary neuroscience.

Josh Stinton
Mentor: Business Development
Josh Stinton is Events Director of 6.2. He is a passionate entrepreneur specialising in assisting businesses of all sizes reach their objectives through coaching, strategies and best practice methodologies. Before moving to Australia in 2005, Josh was a regional sales manager in a large, fortune 300 retailer in North America. He now calls Australia home after completing a Bachelor of International Business Marketing and a Masters of Banking and Finance Regulation at Macquarie University. He has since launched numerous large-scale events and exhibitions for clients in the Australian resource and international technology sectors.

Vivian Yang
Mentor: Marketing & Brand Strategy
Vivian M Yang, is the co-founder of Business Propulsion, a marketing agency that helps small and medium businesses achieve growth of sales and profits through strategic and creative marketing. Prior to starting her venture, Vivian worked for over a decade in marketing & brand management across three continents in various national, regional and international roles in major global companies including L’Oreal, Beiersdorf and McCann-Erickson. Today, she takes this strategic know-how of global brands and large corporations, and combines this with creative cost efficient methods, to help transform and propel small & medium businesses. A firm believer in giving back, Vivian also contributes her marketing skills to further charitable causes including Rotary and Cancer Council.
Paul Day
Mentor: Creative Designer
Paul studied International Relations, majoring in Japanese. He works in media for commercial and non profit groups. He is interested in using media to mobilise communities and create social change.
