Liam Darmody

Licensee & Co Curator

Liam began his studies at Macquarie University in 2009 and commenced a traineeship in the Risk and Controls Solutions team at PricewaterhouseCoopers later that year. Liam worked in the Risk & Controls Solutions team for a period of 16 months and was exposed to a range of areas including IT security, corporate governance and auditing of business processes, IT controls and compliance plans. Between 8th and 10th of February, 2010, Liam attended the Inaugural One Young World Summit in London. Not long after his return, he founded Youth Unite For Education, a youth-run organisation which aims to bridge the gap between community service and education. Liam is now focusing on his studies and work at Youth Unite For Education, and has recently returned to Australia from an exchange at Copenhagen Business School.

Frances Houwing

Team Manager & Co Curator

Frances loves listening to passionate people, understanding human behaviour, and being a positive influence when helping others. Frances graduated from Macquarie University with a double degree in Business Administration and Psychology in 2010, and is now completing her Honours in Psychology. Her research is focused on child witnesses, specifically children’s truth and lie telling. She has been involved in a number of other research projects as a Research Assistant for the Macquarie Centre of Cognitive Science, and as a Research Intern for the Centre for Emotional Health, Macquarie University. Frances also works as a therapist for a child with Autism and volunteers as a Telephone Counsellor for Lifeline Australia. Frances is the President of Youth Unite for Education and is excited by the prospect of TEDxMacquarieUniversity.

Josh Stinton

Business Development Manager

Josh is currently the Group Head of Marketing Strategy for CAPA – Centre for Aviation and Airline Leader. He is a passionate entrepreneur specialising in assisting small to medium sized businesses reach their objectives through coaching, strategies and best practice methodologies.

Before moving to Australia in 2005, Josh was a regional sales manager in a large, fortune 300 retailer in North America. He now calls Australia home after completing a Bachelor of International Business Marketing and a Masters of Banking and Finance Regulation at Macquarie University. He has since launched numerous large-scale events and exhibitions for clients in the Australian resource and international technology sectors. Josh is honoured to be a part of the TEDxMacquarieUniversity Team and looks forward to attending the event as much as helping in its production!

Jarryd Daymond

Marketing Manager

Jarryd is a project officer at Macquarie University. In 2009 he completed his degrees in Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Commerce-Marketing (Hons), before spending 8 months travelling, studying and volunteering. Jarryd has worked in and taught marketing at Macquarie University. He has a passion for education and helped to establish the Macquarie University Student Representative Association.

Guillaume Babille

Finance Manager

Studying a Bachelor of Applied Finance, Guillaume has been involved with a number of societies at Macquarie University since the beginning of his degree. He has been President and Secretary of the Union Francophone @ Macquarie and is now Treasurer for YUFE@MQ. His involvement with the TEDxMacquarieUniversity is as Finance Director, helping manage funds and budgeting for the event. He wanted to get involved with the project because he is fan of TED talks and also passionate about getting involved. He likes cooking and reading and listening to music. He is excited to be part of a team to make the event at Macquarie University and engage students.

Paul is a fourth year Macquarie University student studying International Relations, majoring in Japanese. He works in media for commercial and non profit groups. He is interested in using media to mobilise communities and create social change.

Cassandra Wilkins

Overflow Assistant

Cassandra is a second year student at Macquarie University studying Early Childhood Primary Education from 2010 to 2014. Cassandra is the Secretary for Youth Unite for Education. Her passions include fashion, art, shopping, and hanging out with her friends and family. She is a part of the YUFE team working to engage university and external students by spreading the importance of community service. Cassandra believes everyone has the right to education regardless of race, gender and ethnicity.
